Abstract

This research shows how important life cycle assessment methodology and environmental impact studies are for supporting environmental evaluations, not only for industry, but for other, diverse areas, such as agriculture or intensive livestock systems. These environmental impact evaluations can also offer some alternatives for stopping or decreasing pollution by using green technology, such as recycling organic and inorganic waste, which, in this case, concerns intensive livestock systems located at ICAp. Here, it is possible to demonstrate the feasibility of this project for recycling organic waste to obtain methane gas and use it as an energy source, through an economic financial assessment study. Actually, the analyses of life cycles, environmental impact studies and economic financial assessment studies have originated a new level of planning and execution for project development with the understanding that any type of project could irreversibly damage the environment.
